On Saturday September 14, 2013, we were joined by over 1,000 residents at the 2013 Health Fair for cultural performances, health services, and presentations on health insurance options.

We partnered with Our Lady of La Vang Parish, Foothill Community Health Center, Covered California, Community Health Partnership, Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI), Asian Pacific Islander Justice Coalition, SIREN (Services, Immigrant Rights, and Education Network), and SEIU Local 521 for the 2013 Health Fair. The Health Fair 2013 began with morning exercises led by Dr. Thang Tran from the Foothill Community Health Center.

Throughout the day, Our Lady of La Vang Parish brought partnering organizations to provide free flu shots and free screenings for diabetes, dental health, and vision health. Participants enjoyed dancing to zumba with Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County and watched performances from the community.

During the Health Fair, SIREN and Community Health Partnership collaborated to present on the impact of the Affordable Care Act on immigrants, which can be viewed here in English, in Spanish, and in Vietnamese. The Office of Congressmember Zoe Lofgren were present for the Health Fair and the workshop on Affordable Care Act and Immigrants. We also received remarks from the Office of Congressmember Mike Honda, which you can view in the gallery below. We are grateful for the support of Congressmember Zoe Lofgren and Congresmember Mike Honda.

Our partners were also available during the Health Fair to answer questions on healthcare, health insurance, and health services. One participant came with their family, “so that we can represent our Latino community, and so that we can inform our neighbors and community members who are unable to attend.”

  1. All of you guys have done a great job in serving other people through these free health screenings and other forms of care. We hope that there would be more event like this. These proactive efforts of health screening can minimize healthcare costs, help the less fortunate and actively manage anyone’s healthcare spending through early detection/treatment while giving everyone a quality of life they deserve.
