Spartan Keyes Egg Hunt
The Spartan Keyes Egg Hunt is a community engagement activity in collaboration with the Spartan Keyes Neighborhood Association. The fair offers a fun day of celebrating community, an important aspect for building and sustaining neighborhood vibrancy and pride.
During the Spring 2024 semester, the Spartan Keyes Egg Hunt was held at Bestor Park for the Spartan Keyes community. Bestor Park was the chosen location for the Spartan Keyes Egg Hunt due to its location and versatility. The Spartan Keyes Egg Hunt created a sense of community engagement among the residents and provided a safe and enjoyable event for children and adults. Approximately 58 community members attended (30 children and 28 adults).
For this event, 20 SJSU students were separated into three equally sized groups based on the skills they could provide for the event, and the groups included Decoration, Activities, and Data. The Decoration Group was responsible for creating and setting up the decorations at the park. The Activities group was responsible for deciding what games to have during the event and where to have them. The Egg Hunt group organized the egg hunts by age group, ensuring that each age group could fully enjoy their experience. Finally, the Data group distributed the surveys throughout the event, ensuring we could get the volunteers and the community’s feedback. In the week leading up to the event, students canvassed around the neighborhood, ensuring that people knew about the upcoming event.
