CommUniverCity SJSU is a partnership dedicated to strengthening community connections, health, and education in underserved neighborhoods of Central San José. Working alongside residents, faculty, students, and community partners, we support community-driven initiatives that promote educational opportunity, healthy environments, and neighborhood empowerment.

Position Overview
CommUniverCity SJSU seeks an SJSU undergraduate or graduate student to assist with website development for CommUniverCity’s implementation of community-based projects in the greater downtown San José area.

The Website Development Support (previously known as Web Developer) is responsible for designing, updating, and modifying CommUniverCity’s website, from layout to function, according to the leadership team’s specifications. Work created by Web Development Support should be visually appealing, feature a user-friendly design, and have clear navigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and improve CommUniverCity’s web page, including its content, design, user interface, and functionality
• Support the creation of webpages highlighting community projects and partnerships
• Improve website usability and navigation
• Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Specialist to integrate CommUniverCity branding and content across the website
• Align with leadership on ongoing website developments
• Regularly meet with faculty advisors to review and publish translated website content
  

Required Qualifications

• MUST be a current SJSU student in academic good standing
• Must be a Fall 2027 graduate or later
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, and general web functions
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides)
• Ability to clearly and consistently communicate with colleagues
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic graphic design or image editing skills

Desired Qualifications

• Familiarity with WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Flickr
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design principles
• Strong eye for design
• Interest in community engagement, nonprofit organizations, or higher education
