CommUniverCity SJSU is a partnership dedicated to strengthening community connections, health, and education in underserved neighborhoods of Central San José. Working alongside residents, faculty, students, and community partners, we support community-driven initiatives that promote educational opportunity, healthy environments, and neighborhood empowerment.

Position Overview
The Project Coordinator supports the Program Manager in the development and implementation of community-engaged, course-based service-learning projects. This role connects SJSU faculty and students with community priorities, helps coordinate projects, evaluates program impact, and supports efforts to build community leadership and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate service-learning projects that connect SJSU faculty, students, residents, and community partners to advance neighborhood-driven goals
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously by tracking timelines, prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining consistent communication with CommUniverCity’s Community Outreach Program Coordinator
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and approachable demeanor while interacting with children, school district personnel, residents, faculty, students, and community partners
  • Foster resident engagement by supporting community outreach efforts and neighborhood events
  • Assist in planning and coordinating outreach initiatives, engagement activities, and community events by organizing logistics and communicating with stakeholders
  • Collect, organize, and maintain project data and documentation by filing
  • Assist with program evaluation and impact tracking by organizing project data, documenting outcomes, and maintaining records
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of CommUniverCity’s mission

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a Fall 2027 graduate or later
  • Current SJSU student in good academic standing
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team settings
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Reliable transportation for community site visits
  • Availability for occasional evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Forms)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Familiarity with issues impacting low-income and diverse communities
  • Experience in community outreach, engagement, or event planning
