Spring 2024 – Masters of Urban Planning Students in the SJSU Department of Urban and Regional Planning and enrolled in the Capstone studio in Community Engagement, embarked on a study of an area in West San Jose at the intersection of three municipal jurisdictions including Saratoga and Campbell. <\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Their study was initiated at the request of the Vice Mayor of San Jose, District 1, and focused on the area generally constituting Paseo de Saratoga Urban Village. The aim was to study and provide recommendations on how the area could benefit from various mobility enhancements in the future as the area continues to evolve, projects move forward and city improvement programs are developed and implemented. <\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The students embarked on a mission of evaluating the existing conditions, developing and implementing a community engagement strategy which included in person feedback with community members and elected leaders. Based on the information gathered in the initial stages, the students prepared a final analysis presentation and report, including recommendations, to the Vice Mayor and project partners. <\/span><\/p>
