Engineering in Action\" href=\"http:\/\/cucsj.org\/es\/programs\/science-and-engineering-in-action\/\">Science &amp; Engineering in Action program<\/a>, &#8220;San Jos\u00e9 State\u00a0has received $25,000 grants from Intel for each of three innovative programs all aimed at getting elementary and middle school students fired up about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.<\/p>\n<p>Intel is the first major donor to the Girls STEM Network and Youth STEM Network programs, under the direction of Virginia Lehmkuhl-Dakhwe\u00a0of the Jay Pinson STEM Education initiative within the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sjsu.edu\/science\/programsinstitutes\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>College of Science<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both programs match\u00a0SJSU\u00a0students from the Communication Studies 157 service learning course with community-based efforts to nurture interest in science and math from a very young age.<\/p>\n<p>Intel\u2019s support will also help sustain SJSU\u2019s Science and Engineering in Action program, which matches SJSU student mentors with underserved downtown elementary and middle schools, where they meet to explore science and engineering through engaging hands-on projects.<\/p>\n<p>SJSU collaborates with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cucsj.org\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>CommUniverCity San Jos\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ywca-sv.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>YWCA Silicon Valley<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on these
